About Jennings Couch
I was born in New York City in 1995 and fell in love with music at an early age. I started playing guitar and piano at about age 6, taking lessons often. Whilst on 'play-dates' with a couple of other budding musicians, we would try to create something that sounded somewhat musical. Whether it was music or not I don't know! At age 10, my family and I packed up and moved to London, England.
The drastic move to the UK cut me off from music, and it was a while before I picked up the guitar again or sat down at the keys. As i began to feel more settled, I got back into taking guitar lessons from a very inspirational teacher who made sure I knew my chords and scales. A couple of my close friends and I started a small 3 piece band once we were in the 8th grade. We were called Sound Of Silence, or SOS for short. We were very committed, practising often and landing gigs at school, until the other members moved away in the summer of 9th grade. This opened up to me the opportunity to compose on my own, playing all the instruments and writing all the music and lyrics. For a year I wrote on my own and recorded on my own with Ash Milton, until the summer of 10th grade, when I formed a new band. This group, just like the old one, were a committed bunch. We loved practising and coming out with new material. We did well for a year.
11th Grade brought with it a drastic increase in workload, I had no time for the band or my own composing. Yet I knew i had to keep writing and recording, so whenever I could i tried to write, although a lot of it felt forced. In my latest session with Ash Milton, I was very unconfident with the two tracks I decided to recorded, only because they felt forced. However, I was astounded when I received the tracks back, as they were a lot better than I thought! Now I continue to write, compose and record on my own, fuelled by my passion for music.
